BJP volunteers clear waste from MMC wards

VASCO: The Mormugao BJP Mandal volunteers and former councillors on Saturday rolled up their sleeves and with the help of earthmover machinery and other equipment undertook the garbage clearing drive from Ward number one to nine.

Mandal member Murari Bandekar, “After people approached us because of garbage, the BJP mandal volunteers with the support of Urban Development Minister Naik undertook cleaning work with the help of earthmovers, trucks etc.”

Leo Rodrigues, former councillor said that considering the growing garbage due to the five days strike of the municipality workers, the people came to us and expressed their problem because of overflowing garbage. With the help of Naik, we BJP volunteers decided to clear the waste spread across all the wards. 

Meanwhile, in Vasco port town, former MMC councillor Krishna (Daji) Salkar cleared 10 dark spots where garbage was inevitably dumped by transforming them into clean well paved areas in his personal capacity. 

Hitting at the Vasco MLA, Salkar criticised Carlos Almeida for indulging only in blame games instead of developing the port town.

He mentioned that in tough times the elected representative should come forward and help the people and not play blame games. 

Salkar also opined that the local MLA blaming the Chief Minister and the Urban Development Minister showed the local MLA’s incompetence in tackling this miniature crisis.
