PANJIM: The vote share of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), which won 20 seats has marginally increased to 33.3 per cent while, the vote share of the Congress declined to 23.5 per cent as compared to 2017 Assembly polls.
The BJP had contested all 40 seats and polled 3,16,573 votes with a vote share of 33.3 per cent. While increasing its vote share the BJP bagged 20 seats, seven more than it had won in 2017 when its vote share was 32.5 per cent.

The Congress contested 37 seats and polled 2,22,948 votes and won 11 seats and the vote share declined to 23.5 per cent from 28.4 per cent it had secured in 2017. The Goa Forward Party which contested three seats in alliance with the Congress won lone seat with vote share of 1.84 per cent. GFP president Vijai Sardesai retained his Fatorda seat.
The voter share of the oldest regional Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party (MGP) also declined to 7.6 per cent from 11 per cent is had achieved five years ago. In 2017, the MGP had won three seats and this time it won only two seats. The total votes polled by party’s 13 candidates was 72,269.
The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) improved its vote share to 6.8 per cent by winning two seats and polling 64,354 votes. Five years ago the AAP drew a blank and its vote share was 6.27 per cent.
The Trinamool Congress Party (TMC) which contested 26 seats in alliance with the MGP achieved a vote share of 5.21 per cent.
The vote of other parties including the Revolutionary Goans Party (RGP), Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) and others including Independents was 19.37 per cent.
