VASCO: Panic gripped the students and staff of an educational institute in Vasco following a bomb scare on Friday morning.
According to sources, some miscreants pasted a note stating that a bomb has been planted in one of the classrooms of the institute, while one note was forwarded to the principal.
“The news spread like wild fire and it created panic among the students and staff. The principal immediately informed the Verna Police, who rushed to the site along with the Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS),” informed the source.
“The BDS was pressed into service and the sniffer dogs searched all the classrooms including the principal’s office and the staff room,” added the source.
When contacted, Mormugao DySP Laurence D’Souza said Verna Police received a call from the institute principal at about 9.30 am stating that she received information that someone has planted a bomb in one of the classrooms. “Acting on the complaint, Verna Police immediately alerted BDS and rushed to the site along with the BDS and sniffer dogs.”
“The BDS searched the entire campus including the classrooms, principal’s office, staffroom and the wash rooms and only after satisfying themselves that it was a hoax call left the premises at about 12.30 pm,” added D’Souza.
