Borim Bridge Repairs Trigger Massive Traffic Jam on Ponda–Borim Highway, Locals Seek Night-Time Work

Commuters faced major inconvenience on the Ponda–Borim highway on Monday as repair work on the Borim bridge led to a massive traffic jam, bringing movement to a near standstill for several hours.

The ongoing construction has narrowed the carriageway, resulting in long queues of vehicles stretching for kilometres and causing delays for office-goers, students and emergency services. Residents and regular commuters expressed frustration over the timing of the work, saying that daytime construction has severely disrupted daily travel.

Locals have urged the authorities to shift the repair work to night hours so that traffic flow during peak daytime periods remains unaffected. They believe that night-time construction would significantly reduce congestion and ensure smoother movement on this vital arterial route connecting Ponda with Borim and surrounding areas.

With the bridge being a key link for thousands of vehicles every day, citizens have called for better traffic management and clear diversion plans until the repair work is completed, to avoid further hardship for the travelling public.
