Since last week, there have been frequent traffic jams. Rather than filling in the previously excavated trenches, workers have been spotted digging farther into Shiroda without covering them, which has made the road more treacherous and constrained for cars.
The gas supply agency reportedly started excavating at Borim’s entry point to Shiroda even before the monsoon season had completely ended, according to sources. From Borim Circle to the road underneath Borim Bridge, a one-meter-deep trench has been dug. It cuts across one lane and is left open, with warning signs posted.

This has resulted in extreme traffic congestion, with buses and large cars finding it difficult to maneuver the congested roads, particularly in the early morning and late evening. In addition to hazardous driving conditions, commuters must contend with delays that interfere with their everyday plans.
A lot of people aren’t getting the buses that connect to Ponda, Panjim, and Margão. It’s also getting harder for students to get to Shiroda’s educational institutions on time, such as Ayurvedic College, RIT Shiroda, the Homeopathic Institute, and Shiroda Higher Secondary.
