BORIM: The State is celebrating Carnival in different cities and the inclusion of Ponda in the official list of venues has been welcomed by residents, as they eagerly await the carnival float parade in Ponda on February 11.
Addressing a press conference, Ponda MLA Lavoo Mamledar, who is chairman of the Ponda Carnival Committee, said the government had accepted a proposal to include Ponda in the state-level Carnival celebrations.
“The government has sanctioned Rs 10 lakh for the Carnival celebration in Ponda and we expect about 45 floats to take part in the parade,” said Mamledar.
Ponda Carnival Committee secretary Irwin Soares said the float parade will begin at 3 pm on February 11, while special programmes will be organized on February 12.
