Brit ends life at Arpora guest house

A 42-year-old Briton committed suicide in a rented room of a guest house in Arpora.
According to Anjuna police, the body of Belchar was found hanging to the ceiling with a help of a chain when his friend Max forced open the door of the guest room late Sunday evening after a foul odour emanated from the room.
Max accordingly informed Anjuna police, who rushed to the site, Police Inspector Manjunath Dessai and DySP Sammy Tavares also rushed to the site.
Anjuna police further informed that Belchar along with his wife had arrived in Goa in December 2009 and after putting up at a guest house in Parra had shifted to Arpora.
“Belchar’s wife left for England while he stayed back in Goa. A few days ago, Belchar’s wife had called him on his cell phone, which was left unanswered,” informed the police.
“Accordingly, Mrs Belchar called up Max, who was known to Belchar. Max finally visited Belchar at his guest house on Sunday at about 12.30 am, but did not get any response from Belchar to his calls,” added the police.
As Max waited for Belchar to open the door, Max got a bad odour, due to which he forced open the door only to find Belchar’s decomposed body. Max accordingly alerted Anjuna police.
According to Anjuna police, Belchar had left a note and a CD behind.
The note was meant for Max, which read: “Sorry to leave that for you”, while on the CD there was a message for his wife, which read: “Ain’t no sunshine, she is gone.” Anjuna police is investigating the case.
