Brit found dead at Palolem

A 49-year-old British national was found dead outside a beachside restaurant at Palolem shore late Sunday night.
According to Canacona police, John Edward Mathews had arrived at Palolem on Sunday morning and preliminary investigations have revealed that since his arrival he was seen in an intoxicated state.
“The British national is suspected to have died of heavy consumption of alcohol, even though a post mortem will throw light on the exact cause of death,” added the police.
Local sources informed that some people noticed the British national lying on the shore late Sunday night and accordingly alerted police.
The body has been preserved at Hospicio in Margao and further investigation is in progress, informed Canacona police.
It may be recalled that this is the second incident of unnatural death of a British national at Palolem in a week’s time. On March 22, British national Hedrick Karl Mensan (40) was found dead in a hotel room.
Mansen’s death was also suspected due to heavy consumption of alcohol, as he was reportedly seen heavily drunk the previous day while entering his room.
