PORVORIM: Burglars have been targeting different parts of Bardez taluka since the last five days and have decamped with two-wheelers and electronic items worth nearly Rs 3 lakh in five different incidents at Sinquerim, Mapusa, Guirim and Betim.
The first of the two burglaries were reported at Mapusa, when Hansa N Chodankar of Ekatanagar-Mapusa complained that burglars stole an Activa scooter (GA-03-S-6468), valued at Rs 51,000, between 7.35 pm on July 8 and the morning of July 9.
In the second case, Bahubali Patil of Khorlim-Mapusa complained that a Hero Honda motorcycle (GA-03-A-2127) valued at Rs 10,000 was stolen from a parking place near Communidade Building at Mapusa at about 5 pm on July 8.
In the third case, Pradeep Sawant, co-ordinator of the Goa Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan Centre at Guirim complained that burglars broke into the centre’s office sometime between 6 pm on July 11 and 9.30 am on July 12 and stole two computers, a UPS, keyboard, Mouse and a printer, all worth Rs 80,000.
At Sinquerim, Y Marasa Reddy of Porvorim said burglars broke open the window of a car, which was parked at an open space at Fort Aguada, and decamped with a laptop, an I-Pod, an I-Phone and a Sony camera, all valued at about Rs 1 lakh. The incident is reported to have taken place between 12.40 pm and 1 pm on July 12.
In the fifth case, Saroj Bhandari, a native of Nepal but residing at Betim, complained that burglars broke open the lock of the main door of a rented room at Betim on July 12 and stole a laptop and a digital camera all worth Rs 50,000.
The cases have been registered with the police stations at Mapusa, Porvorim and Calangute and investigations are in progress.
