Burglars strike gold at Loliem

CANACONA, JULY 28 Burglars reportedly decamped with gold ornaments worth over Rs 4 lakh from a residence in Loliem-Canacona on Monday evening. This comes barely two days after a youth was caught red-handed while trying to flee with stolen gold ornaments worth over Rs 2 lakh from a house at Paithod-Sadolxem.

Burglars reportedly decamped with gold ornaments worth over Rs 4 lakh from a residence in Loliem-Canacona on Monday evening.
This comes barely two days after a youth was caught red-handed while trying to flee with stolen gold ornaments worth over Rs 2 lakh from a house at Paithod-Sadolxem.
According to sources, the incident came to light when the inmates, who were away for a week, found their house ransacked on their return. Besides, gold ornaments, costly items and cash amounting worth over Rs 4 lakh were found missing from the house.
The burglars gained entry into the house by breaking the window grill of the kitchen and decamped with necklace set, three pairs of earrings, two rings, four heavy bangles, etc, besides Rs 65,000 in cash.
Sources further informed that the gold ornaments alone was worth over Rs 4 lakh, while burglars also made away with other luxury items like imported soap packets, towels, clothes, perfumes, etc and coins worth Rs 5,000 in different denominations collected by a house member as her hobby.
Sources also informed that when the inmates opened their house, cupboards were found broke open with all belongings scattered on the floor.
It was also reportedly learnt that after information was given, a police team rushed to the house to take stock of the situation.
However, it was learnt that the owner was reluctant to file a police complaint and Canacona police also confirmed that no police complaint was registered regarding the burglary at Loliem.
