VASCO: Some unidentified culprits made an unsuccessful attempt to burgle UCO bank branch located in Chicolna-Bogmalo Panchayat building during wee hours on Thursday.
According to the Bogmalo Sarpanch Laxman Kavlekar, the incident came to light in the morning when locals noticed a hole made inside the ATM room located adjacent to the UCO bank.
“When I received information, I immediately alerted the police, as well as bank officials and rushed to the site. Upon reaching the site, I notice that the culprits had tried to make hole in the wall of ATM machine room attached to the bank. However they failed in their attempt,” Kavlekar said.
Meanwhile, Kavlekar has raised serious concerns over the increase in theft cases in Chicolna-Bogmalo Panchayat jurisdiction since last few weeks. He said that about four theft cases have been reported in last one week in Bogmalo.
“It is surprising that in the last one week four robberies have been reported in our village and the way the culprits have tried to burgle the bank, and then a family having their house in close proximity of the bank, this shows that the culprits are armed and can pose danger to the lives of villagers,” he said.
