PANJIM: Even as the Goa Government on Tuesday stopped all recruitment in government departments and government-aided institutions, the Cabinet on Friday approved various posts in different government and government-aided organizations.
“We have not completely frozen recruitments. We have given relaxation to educational institutions and also the health sector. Wherever required we have to take,” Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar said.
The Cabinet has approved the appointment on contract basis of assistant professors in seven government colleges for the academic year 2016-17, and revived one post of assistant professor in political science in a government college.
The government has also approved the proposal to appoint 15 counsellors in addition to the existing 45 counsellors and to appoint three supervisors in addition to existing 11 for providing counselling to students in government and aided institutions. It has also approved the appointment of four instructors on contract basis at Goa College of Engineering (GEC) at Farmagudi.
In regard to the health sector, the Cabinet on Friday approved recruitment of additional staff for cardiology department in the Goa Medical College (GMC) for posts of junior consultants cardiovascular and thoracic surgeon, consultant cardiac anaesthesiologist, cardiac OT nurses, cardiac ICU (CTICU) nurses and ward attendants, making it a total of 18 posts in GMC itself.
With this the Goa Government in its approval before the cabinet on Friday approved 48 posts in the health and education sector.
On Tuesday, the government had stopped all recruitments in government departments as well as government-aided institutions to assist the smooth accomplishment of the 7th Central Pay Commission recommendations.
