MARGAO: Come June 1, and the General Administration Department (GAD) is likely to take the responsibility of the maintenance aspects of the Osia Commercial Complex in Margao, even as Chief Minister, Manohar Parrikar on Saturday disclosed plans to dispose of the office spaces in a transparent manner, if they are not required by other departments.
The chief minister had a meeting with officials in the Osia Complex on Saturday afternoon, wherein it was decided that the maintenance aspects of the complex would be taken care of by GAD. “There are many government departments in this complex and complaints are many over non-functioning lifts and other problems. The individual departments could not liaise effectively with the complex and hence it has been decided to allot the work to GAD,’ Parrikar said.
Replying to a question, he said that the government is open to the idea of disposing of the space when departments such as the Sub-Registrar are shifted to the Collectorate building. “We are open to disposing of the offices in a transparent manner, after ascertaining whether the other departments are in need of additional space or not,” he added.
