MAPUSA: Port Minister and Calangute MLA Michael Lobo on Wednesday appealed to the constituency people to take up farming as an occupation.

“There is need for people to concentrate on farming and grow green vegetables in their backyards, gardens and agriculture land. If people grow veggies at home than there will be no need to buy veggies from the neighbouring States.”
“Today the Tourism Industry is shut because of the COVID-19 pandemic but before Goa could become a tourism State, our ancestor were involved in farming. Calangute has fertile land and any kind of crop can be grown here. More and more people should move towards farming and make Calangute more greener place,” Lobo added.
Lobo was addressing the farmers from Calangute during the inauguration ceremony of garbage trucks.
To encourage more people especially the youth towards farming, Calangute Panchayat in coordination with Zonal Agriculture Bardez had taken the initiative to distribute free seeds, manure and gardening kits to Calangute villagers, on Monday.
