The Chief Minister has assured to issue necessary directions and start the work in two days. Mala Lake has been a major cause of flooding in the surrounding areas, as there is no free flow of water.

Speaking to media persons after the meeting, Monserrate said GSIDC, who constructed the bridge, connecting Neugi Nagar to EDC Patto, has failed to clear the debris, which is blocking the flow of lake water. “Because of the debris, the Water Resources Department is also unable to undertake cleaning cum desilting work,” he said.

The MLA said the free flow of lake water is must to ensure there is no flooding in this inundated area.

The low-lying area of Mala every year area witnesses massive flooding with water entering the houses. Cleaning of Mala Lake has been a long pending project.
