The village panchayat of Calangute on Wednesday carried out a demolition drive against several illegally encroached roadside shops at Gauravaddo, clearing the way for upcoming road widening works.
Officials confirmed that demolition orders had been issued for 23 encroachments in the area. The action is part of the panchayat’s ongoing efforts to address unauthorized structures that have narrowed road space and caused traffic congestion in the busy coastal belt.
