The Calangute Panchayat conducted an inspection of three ongoing construction projects amid concerns that building licences were granted despite access roads being less than the mandated six metres in width.
The issue has sparked concern among residents, who have urged authorities to immediately review and revoke such permissions if found to be in violation of planning norms. Locals warned that allowing such developments to proceed could place additional strain on already limited infrastructure in the area.
Residents emphasised that safety and proper urban planning must remain a priority, cautioning that compromised access could pose risks, particularly during emergencies.
The inspection comes as part of growing scrutiny over construction practices in the coastal belt, with calls for stricter enforcement of regulations to ensure sustainable and safe development.
