The issue of Raghoba Gaonkar of Panna wado Cavrem Pirla raised a controversy in the House at Zero Hour where Chief Minister Pramod Sawant said it is not true that the family had no light for 45 days. He said the line was going through forest area. The light used to go on and off.
Sawant also alleged that Power Minister Sudin Dhavalikar who said the story is true in the House, spoke too fast. Sawant also said that Raghoba was given light but he later shifted his house in the forest.
Though Raghoba Gaonkar withdrew his statement, Herald TV has the statement of Raghoba, his son, Power Minister Sudin Dhavalikar, the Assistant Engineer and the locals to lay our case before the public.
Raghoba and his son Rajesh Gaonkar after his original statement, admitted to a pointed question by the media a second said that they had said that they did not have light for 45 days. When other reporters went to the village and questioned the Gaonkar whether they didn’t have light for 45 days, Raghoba’s son Rajesh Gaonkar replied, “ We did not have light. We had said we did not have light for 45 days.” Raghoba said, “There was light. But we were not getting it, due to trees falling on the wires. Power used to fluctuate.”
When again questioned as reported in the paper you said you dint have light for 45 day, they replied, “We had said it. There was power, but it was going off and coming on.”
Reporters grilled them again, “ Did someone tell you to say this?” Father and son admitted, “ No we only said this.”
Raghoba had stated to Herald TV that they had paid Rs 30,000 for 15 poles eight years ago and the electricity dept was asking him to get a tractor to take the poles up the hill and that they were without power for 45 days and that they had to light a fire inorder to get light.
Assistant Engineer, Sanjiv Mashelkar, also said, “When we see the topography, there is 100% problem. Mostly this problem occurs during the rains. I have found he problem and I will meet the Chief Engineer personally and we will resolve the problem.
In the House, when the issue was raised by Fatorda MLA Vijai Sardesai during Zero Hour Power Minister Sudin Dhavalikar said the issuje was true and that he would provide light to the Gaonkar family by 6pm on Saturday. CM too reiterated that the family would receive the light latest by 6pm Saturday.
