POINGUINIM: Over 65 farmers from Canacona taluka have sought compensation after claiming that their crops were destroyed by recent cyclonic winds in Cotigao and some parts of Gaondongrem.
Agriculture Department of anacona (ZAO) has received 65 complaints from farmers regarding damage to their crops and trees. They informed that the farmers have sought compensation to the tune of Rs 15 lakh.
Speaking to Herald, Canacona ZAO Shivram Naik Gaonkar said he has scrutinized about 42 applications and will conduct an inspection.
