POINGUINIM: The PWD water supply division of Canacona found that there are 451 consumers who owed the PWD over Rs 2000 each in Canacona taluka and according to the Assistant Engineer (AE) Lester D’Souza, the piped water consumers, despite repeated reminders, failed to pay the outstanding dues. He said that as a result of this the step was taken to disconnect the water supply of the erring consumers as per law.
A sum of around Rs 16 lakh is due from the defaulters.
