A Eucharistic celebration will be held in all the nine chapels at 5 pm on the Canonization day. The parishioners of Candolim have been invited to attend the celebrations in their respective chapels.
The nine statues of Blessed Joseph Vaz will be installed at St Sebastian Chapel (Orda), St Cruz Chapel (Orda), Our Lady of Piety (Dando), Holy Cross (near The Arc of Hope, Muddo), Povitr Khuris (Bamon Vaddo), while four other statues will be installed at other wards including Pintos Vaddo and Marquis Vaddo.
Speaking to Herald, Crisante Matias of Bamon Vaddo, Candolim, and a member of the Fabrica Committee said, “We are overjoyed with the sainthood for our Goan priest. It is a big day for Goans, as we are privileged to have a saint of Goan origin.”
“It is not just a big day for Catholics, but even Hindu brethren of Candolim are overjoyed with the development. We are hoping that another Goan, Fr Agnelo D’Souza will also attain sainthood soon,” said Matias.
Meanwhile, Our Lady of Hope Church, Candolim, Parish Priest Fr Romualdo Robin Rodrigues along with assistant Parish Priest Fr Peter Simon Mascarenhas and about 90 parishioners of Candolim have left for Sri Lanka to attend the Canonization ceremony of Blessed Joseph Vaz.
