“After the evening mass, parishioners will participate in procession from the church. After going through all eight wards of the parish, the procession will end at the church and the statue of St Joseph Vaz will be placed at a place reserved at the altar. This will be followed by a small get-together for children of the parish. Each sector and other associations of the church will carry banners of St Joseph Vaz during the procession,” Parish Priest Fr Vital Miranda said.
“The purpose of the procession is to follow in the footsteps of Blessed Joseph Vaz, who worked tirelessly to get the Catholic families together and brought a communion among the communities,” added Fr Miranda.
Meanwhile, St Andrew’s Church, Vasco, Parish Priest Fr Gabriel Coutinho told Herald that there will be adoration and thanksgiving at the church on January 14, at 9 am.
“Parishioners will participate in a procession, accompanied by brass band, within the church premises and will assemble near the grotto to offer prayers,” said Fr Coutinho.
