PANJIM: While Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar will take a final call in the on-going battle for the much hyped Electronic Dance Music (EDM) events queued up for licences, report emerging from the tourism ministry and North District Collectorate is that Candolim will be the venue and no other alternate venues will be considered for the same.
Likewise the State government is not going to consider granting more than one licence for an Electronic Dance Music event in North Goa during the last week of December.
The licence will be awarded to the organiser who has all documents submitted in order with proper legal backing and one that does not create hassles for locals residing around the venue.
Preliminary reports indicate that Sunburn 2013 scheduled to be hosted by Percept, from December 27-29, 2013, is facing stiff competition from Supersonic 2013 scheduled to be organised by Viacom 18 from December 26-30, 2013.
A source at the Secretariat has disclosed that currently the wave is in favour of the all new Electronic Dance Music entitled Supersonic 2013 as it has submitted most of the requisite documents and that this event is unlikely to create any traffic congestion in and around the venue at Candolim.
Speaking to Herald the North Goa Collector Mihir Vardhan said, “I will be submitting my report to the government next week.”
This report will officially unveil the recommendations made by the inspection team constituted to assess the ground realities at venues shortlisted for the mega Electronic Dance Music event.
North Goa Collector Mihir Vardhan said that the committee is not favouring Vagator as a venue considering the fact that accesses to the venue are narrow and unsuitable to cater to heavy vehicular movement.
