Canoe capsizes off Benaulim; 11 fishermen rescued

MARGAO: As many as 11 fishermen hailing from Andhra Pradesh Jharkhand, were rescued after a canoe capsized off Benaulim beach on Tuesday morning, when they were returning after fishing. 

All the fishermen were rescued successfully by the local fishermen even as few of them swam ashore. Fortunately, no casualties were reported.

The canoe is owned by Grray fanalias Popu Fernandes of Grande, Pedda, Benaulim. After reaching about 100 metres from the seashore suddenly the canoe capsized in seawater due to strong current waves and bad weather conditions. 

According to the Coastal Police, some crew members came to the seashore, swimming by themselves. They also brought capsized fishing boat at the seashore later.
