VASCO: After a gap of almost a year, the much awaited night casualty facility at Cansaulim Primary Health Centre (PHC) which would cater to the needs of people from Cortalim constituency and the neighbouring villages would restart from Friday and the services would be available from 4.30 pm to 9 am informed RDA Minister and Cortalim MLA Alina Saldanha.
As per Saldanha, she had made representation before the Director of Health Services, Dr Sanjeev Dalvi, and Deputy Director Dr Jose De’Sa informing them that the people of the Cortalim constituency have been facing severe hardships due to lack of such night casualty facility at Cansaulim PHC as they have to either rush to Chicalim Cottage Hospital or to Hospicio Hospital in Margao during medical emergencies reported in evening hours.
“I am glad that the health department officials took a serious note of my representation and made arrangements to restart night casualty facility in the new temporary premises at Bazarwado in Cansaulim (along Cansaulim-Verna road). Also, I have personally inspected the premises and found that the infrastructure is in place, and, an ambulance service would also be made available at the site in days to come so that during emergencies, patients could be shifted to hospitals for further medical treatment,” she said adding, “The daytime casualty facility and the OPDs at the PHC will continue at the existing premises in Arossim 9.30 am onwards”.
