Carnival parade stays along Miramar, Dona Paula road

PANJIM: This year too, the traditional carnival float parade for Panjim will be held along the Dona Paula-Miramar road on March 2.
Samba Square at the Garcia de Orta (Panjim Municipal Garden) and Khel Tiatr, Tiatr and musical events will be organised at various places like Mala, Caranzalem, Dona Paula, Altinho and Ribandar during the four-day long carnival festival. 
The Panjim carnival 2019 sub-committee, under the chairmanship of Mayor Vithal Chopdekar, met on Thursday to discuss the programmes and route plan for the parade. 
Speaking to media persons after the meeting, Chopdekar said the float parade would take place along the Dona Paula-Miramar stretch. He said that the Tourism Department has allocated a budget of Rs 26 lakh for the carnival. 
He said that apart from Samba Square, it has been decided to hold various programmes within the corporation’s jurisdiction to celebrate the event. 
Corporator and committee treasurer Menino Da Cruz said special pandals will be offered to hoteliers, who can invite their guests cum tourists to enjoy the parade.
