The Legal Metrology authorities conducted an investigation at the Metastrips facility in Sancoale, specifically targeting their weighbridge operations. The inspection was prompted by reports of irregularities in weight readings. Following the investigation, a case has been officially registered.
Inspector Nitin Purushan disclosed that the department had received complaints from customers who had purchased construction sand from Metastrips. These complaints raised concerns about inconsistencies in the weights recorded during transactions. “Consumers expressed concerns about variations in the weight of the sand they purchased, with reported instances of weights ranging from 6 to 8 tonnes. Upon investigation, it was discovered that the weighbridge was the source of the issue, leading to erratic weight readings. A case has been registered in response to these findings”, said the Inspector.
The raid focused on addressing these concerns and ensuring that the weighbridge operations at Metastrips comply with legal standards. The case has been initiated based on the findings of the inspection, and further actions will be taken as necessary to address any issues identified during the process.
