PERNEM: Fierce blazes engulfed a cashew orchard belonging to Prabhakar Naik at Dadachiwadi, Dhargalim, near the government primary school, Khalbat-Wada.

The entire plantation was reduced to ashes and the owner suffered a loss of about Rs 1.5 lakh. Naik said that he was horrified to see his livelihood reduced to ashes as the trees had just started to flower before they could bear fruits.
“My dream of earning my daily bread has shattered as the cashew season is round the corner. The trees have been reduced ashes,” lamented Prabhakar Naik while narrating his tale to the media.
“Whether someone intentionally lit the fire or it has caught due to some other reasons I do not know, but in the end only we are the ones to suffer,” said a teary-eyed Naik. He has also expressed to get help from local MLA Pravin Arlekar and the government.
