The proposed plot area of 40,000 sq mts located in the Goa Engineering College Campus, Farmagudi, will have a capacity of 540 students.
Speaking on the occasion, Naik said, “The State Institute of Hotel Management and Catering Technology was the need of the hour. With the tourism industry flourishing in Goa, this project will definitely boost tourism and generate employment for the youth of Goa. We have requested Centre to increase the number of seats to 50 percent for Goan youth. We hope to start work as soon as possible and complete this project within the stipulated time.”
Others present on the occasion were Tourism Minister Dilip Parulekar, GTDC Chairman Nilesh Cabral, Joint Secretary (Tourism-Government of India) Anand Kumar, Principal Secretary (Tourism-Government of Goa) R K Srivastava and Chief Engineer GTDC Project Cell S T Nadkarni.
The project is slated to be completed within 330 days, excluding the rainy season.
