MARGAO: Supporting the circular issued by Council of Social Justice & Peace, the Catholic Association of Goa has urged the people of Goa to turn out in large numbers to cast their precious vote for a government that is democratic, secular and inclusive of all sections of society in their developmental plans for the nation.
“At this point in time, the multiple choices and the various claims and counter claims being made by various parties and candidates can be thoroughly confusing to the mind of the ordinary Goan voter. However, in judiciously exercising their vote, the people of Goa must think in terms of a spirit of unity, openness, inclusiveness, democracy, people friendly and community-oriented policies that will benefit the people and the nation. Policies where the resources of the country do not fall into the hands of a chosen few at the cost of the majority”, the CAG said.
The organisation has also asked the people to remember that we have a responsibility towards our future generations. “Hence we should carefully examine and analyse the development models proposed by various parties and vote in a manner that ensures that the rights and lives of our future generations are not affected by our thoughtless voting for parties and candidates that may impose a model of unsustainable development upon our country”, the CAG said.
Saying the April 12 election is a historic election in many ways that may have serious implications on the very nature of our polity, the CAG said the people must vote well, vote wisely, vote with their conscience.
CAG has appealed to voters to carefully examine and analyse development models proposed by various parties and vote in a manner that ensures rights and lives are
not affected
