PANJIM: The state government has accorded its consent to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to investigate into offences committed by the Central government employees posted in Goa while in case of Goa government employees, the agency will have to seek prior consent from the Goa government.
A notification issued by the Department of Home (General) states that the Government of Goa has accorded its consent for exercise of powers and jurisdiction by the member of the Delhi Special Establishment in the whole of Goa for investigation of offences or classes of offences notified under Section 3 of the said Act, for the offences committed by employees of the Central government, Central public sector undertaking and private persons.
However, no such probe shall be taken up in cases relating to the public servants controlled by the Government of Goa except with the prior written permission of the government.
All previous general consent for any other offences and consent accorded ton case to case basis for any other offence by the Government of Goa shall also remain in force, states the notification issued by Under Secretary (Home) Manthan Manoj Naik.
