PANJIM: On the heels of his broadside against Commissioner Sanjit Rodrigues, Corporation of the City of Panaji Mayor Surendra Furtado Tuesday wrote to chief minister Manohar Parrikar asking for a full time commissioner for the civic body.
“In the interest of smooth and efficient functioning of the Corporation of the City of Panaji, I would hereby request you to appoint Sanjit Rodrigues as a full time Commissioner,” the letter says, adding, “I have learnt that Sanjit Rodrigues is the Managing Director of the Goa State Infrastructure Development Corporation because of which he is over burdened with too many departments.’
Stating that this could be the reason why he ‘as such …finds little time to attend to CCP matters and thus reports for duty only after office hours. Residents of Panjim come with their grievances to the Commissioner but have to wait for the full day and go (back) empty handed.’
He argued that there are several urgent matters to be sorted, so he wanted the chief minister to relieve him of his appointment as MD, GSIDC so that “he can devote full time as the Commissioner of the City of Panaji or he can attend to the GSIDC after office hours.”
