MAPUSA: Deputy Chief Minister Francis D’Souza stated that the government plans to install CCTV cameras in government offices and the proposal will be sent to Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar for approval shortly.
D’Souza was speaking to media persons after visiting the offices of Deputy Collector, Mamlatdar, Town and Country Planning, etc, in Mapusa.
“There may be an element of truth that corruption prevails in government offices. Once these CCTV cameras are installed, the incidents of corruption will be reduced considerably,” said D’Souza.
“The government has started issuing caste, income and other certificates online to reduce the trouble of the people visiting the offices of panchayats/mamlatdars frequently. Out of 33 panchayats in Bardez, 24 are providing online services . There is shortage of Talathis, due to which work in some panchayat suffers. The government will shortly recruit Talathis,” informed D’Souza.
D’Souza expressed anger over the manner in which vehicles were parked in the premises. He advised Deputy Collector Sabaji Shetye to make parking arrangements for vehicles in the open space.
