PANJIM: In a huge relief for beach shack operators, who were mandated to install CCTVs to monitor all activities in shacks, the government has granted them some breathing time as it has been decided to float expression of interest (EOI) to help select a supplier.
“Government will soon float EOI and then list the empanelled vendors. We will ask for specifications…this will enable getting rates from different agencies…” Tourism Director Ameya Abhyankar informed.
The officer stressed that the role of the department is to only facilitate the shack operators to purchase the right product. “We are facilitators. The expenses of the procurement of CCTVs have to be borne by each shack operator,” he added.
This process will however consume time as the government has set about 90-days for the tender, since the date to start shack operations is October 15. Though CCTVs would be fixed after nearly half the season is complete, the tourism department is confident that installation will help to monitor shack operations from the next season.
