panjim: The Central government on Friday announced that it has sanctioned 100 electric buses for Kadamba Transport Corporation (KTC).

Following the announcement by the Union Minister for Environment Minister Prakash Javdekar, the Chief Minister Pramod Sawant said that the “move will mark the beginning of KTC’s transformation towards greener transportation”.
The environment friendly e-buses for the intercity services of Goa would help protect environment as well as improve mobility, Javdekar said.
Total 670 E-buses have been sanctioned in Maharashtra, Goa, Gujarat and Chandigarh and 241 Charging Stations have been sanctioned in MP, TN, Kerala, Gujarat & Port Blair under Phase-II of the _Faster Adoption and Manufacturing of (Hybrid &) Electric Vehicles in India (FAME India) Scheme
“This will mark the beginning of KTC’s transformation towards greener transportation, improving operational efficiency and reducing carbon footprint,” Sawant tweeted.
KTC had requested for 250 electric buses under the scheme.
