Chicalim VP to point out loopholes in MPDA plan

To write to Authority with regards to demand for plan re-survey

VASCO: Chicalim panchayat has now decided to write to the Mormugao Planning and Development Authority (MPDA) about certain loopholes in the MPDA plan.
It is pertinent to note that the panchayat and locals at the extra-ordinary gram sabha had demanded re-survey of the MPDA plan by taking the local body, stakeholders and village development committee into confidence.
Chicalim sarpanch Sebastiao Pereira informed that recently at the extra ordinary gram sabha, the major issue was raised regarding land use register and land use plan under Section 26 of Town & Country Planning Act 1974. The local body claimed that it received the plan on July 2 without a land use register. However, the register was later sent to panchayat on July 19. Pereira explained that as per the authorities, the time frame to put forth the plan along with the register before the locals is August 2. Unfortunately, the panchayat received the plan on July 2 and the land use register on July 19. This caused confusion among locals as they missed the opportunity to understand the MPDA plan to raise their valid suggestions/objections.
Robert Falcao, panch informed that the panchayat during meeting had demanded that an official from MPDA come and brief them on the land use plan and land use register which didn’t happen. Now, the annoyed villagers from Chicalim have rejected the MPDA land use plan and have demanded that the authorities re-survey the plan.
