SANGUEM: The villagers residing at Mugoli ward of Uguem Village Panchayat in Sanguem have urged the PWD authorities to immediately repair the 40 year old bridge in their village which is in a dilapidated condition.
Alleging that the concerned authorities in the PWD have been neglecting the bridge maintenance, villagers informed that the failure by the department to carryout timely repairs, the cement plaster underneath the bridge has worn out causing the iron rods to protrude.

Ex Sarpanch of Uguem Village Panchayat and a resident of Mugoli village Subhash Gaonkar informed that they have been complaining to the PWD authorities of the dilapidated condition about the bridge since past many years but the authorities have failed in undertaking the repair work of the bridge.
“The bridge is now almost on the verge of collapse and needs immediate repair work,” stated Gaonkar.
He further informed that whenever any heavy vehicle crosses the bridge, the cement particles fall from underneath the bridge making it a risky affair.
Last year, former local MLA Prasad Gaonkar alongwith PWD officials had inspected the bridge and assured of getting the repair work done, but to no avail.
Gaonkar also expressed the need to increase the height of the bridge as during monsoon the bridge remains under inundated making it inaccessible for the villagers until the time the water recedes.
