Like in most other cities in the state, the roads in the Port Town of Vasco too were dug up recently presumably for laying the fibre-optic cables. After the cabling work was completed the dug up part of the road was covered by what seems like cement. However due to the continuous down-pour this cement has come off in several places in the city. This has resulted in depression on the roads which causes inconvenience to the road-users, specially, the two-wheeler riders.
There is also every possibility of the two-wheeler riders, more so the cyclists, losing their balance after the wheels get stuck in these gaps on the roads. This can lead to accidents which can even prove fatal. These depressions on the roads will only get deeper as the monsoon progresses. Even though the depression has been hot-mixed at some places, there are more depressions especially near the market which need to be repaired. The authorities concerned need to see that these gaps on the roads are filled up on a war footing in order to prevent accidents.
