The Post Office at Chinchinim tops in the vicinity in terms of deposit schemes, which has a sanctioned staff of three employees.
Over the years, it is being handled by just one Post Master. All requests to the higher ups to increase the staff have fallen on deaf ears. Organisations such as the CCC, PC Trust Lions Club and Postal Committee have drawn the attention to the plight of customers but in vain.

The argument is that the Post Office is functioning, but the inconvenience of waiting for hours is not their concern. Registered mail to the postal authorities and press highlighting the issue had no effect at all. There is no explanation to end the sufferings of postal customers.
The Post Master is forced single-handedly to service deposits, withdrawals, phone bills, registration, money orders, issue of stationery and stamps, parcels booking, updating pass books etc. Besides, attending to the formalities connected with postmen. The facility of Aadhaar cards at the Post Office is crying for want of staff and it could have relieved the people of hassle involved.
The Chinchinim Post Office with turnover of Rs 80 crore plus is only one in the surroundings denied the sanctioned staff compared to all the post offices in the vicinity. The plight of customers is of least concern to the authorities without any justification and over 10 years now.

The fraying tempers, long wait for senior citizens to get the services is beyond the limits of single Post Master to serve such a vast area and people. It looks like that what cannot be cured must be endured. The immediate remedy is to allot the staff sanctioned to mitigate the pains of customers.
