For the last one month, the electricity department has been playing a game of hide and seek as far as electricity supply is concerned in the village of Arossim, Cansaulim.
The frequent power outages and drop in voltage is playing havoc with various home appliances like the refrigerator, where perishable food items stored get spoiled.
People expect the electricty department to ensure that there is no power failure during the crucial summer months. But alas, that is not to be.
And getting relief from the searing hot weather due to lack of electricity, which leads to non-functional equipment including fans and air-conditioners fans or even entertainment, is slowly becoming a distant dream for the residents.
If this is a pre-monsoon trailer, then the villagers have to gird their loins and get prepared for the full picture during the fury of the ensuing monsoons.
If this is the condition in May, one shudders to think what is in store for the villagers if the infrastructural facilities are not improved, bearing in mind that the onslaught of monsoons is barely a few days away.
Let’s hope those at the helm of affairs know what they are doing. Is the Power Minister listening or is he on a ‘flight mode’?
