Prime Minister Narendra Modi says make your village self-reliant and our Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant on October 2, launched the ambitious Atmarnirbhar Bharat Swayampurna Goa.
Goa is known for its scenic beauty, the hills, rivers, fields, forest and sea with the long stretch of shore. The real estate development is destroying the very natural source of livelihood for on time momentary gains for the landlords. How will the villagers venture into the rivers, increase the fish yield, when we have casinos parked or sewage water released into the rivers and the ambitious project of the Sagarmala trying to take control of rivers while the marinas trying to occupy the khazan lands.
The builders are doing landfill of the fields and the hills are sliced for making the table flat for construction. How the agriculture or dairy farming going to increase the milk production and agriculture produce in the State? The more delay in finalising the Goa Coastal Zone Management Authority (CZMP), Private Forest and modifying the Regional Plan 2021 Goa, will be a doom for our future generation.
In Siolim, the traditional Sao Joao, is celebrated by jumping into the tidal creek of Chapora River from Fernandes Vaddo to Vaddy. This river is accessible to the public but very soon a huge project is coming up with all permissions and blessings of the concerned authorities but I wonder if the common Siolcar will ever be allowed to venture into this tidal creek in the future to catch fish or walk on the side ways. In the name of development they are taking away the Goenkar’s “susegad” life and destroying the right to enjoy the clean river view and nature. Will the Chief Minister, State Environment Minister and the Central Environment Minister check on these destructions or stick to only pep talks. Let happen what has to happen, “fuddlem magir pollovea kiteam zata te zaun”.
