I wish to bring to the attention of the concerned authorities regarding a pressing issue affecting daily commuters on the Mapusa-Panjim route. During peak morning hours, particularly between 9 and 10 am, the Kadamba Transport Corporation (KTC) buses are being sent empty to the depot instead of being deployed to serve passengers. This practice is causing severe inconvenience to commuters, especially office-goers and students, who are left at the mercy of private bus operators.
On the morning of February 18, between 9:20 and 9:55 am, as many as five empty KTC buses were observed heading towards the depot instead of serving waiting passengers along the route. This situation is not only leading to overcrowding on private buses but is also forcing KTC pass holders to spend extra money on private transport, undermining the very purpose of the KTC pass system.
Public transport plays a crucial role in ensuring affordable and accessible mobility, and such mismanagement directly impacts the daily lives of commuters. I urge KTC authorities to address this issue by ensuring that buses are deployed effectively during peak hours to cater to passenger demand.
