Plea to repair Valpoi roads

Devendra Gaonkar
VALPOI: The roads which were washed away during the last monsoon are proving to be risky for motorists in Valpoi, as the drains constructed for rain water have collapsed at many places causing the roads to cave in.
The road is narrow and is an important link to zonal agriculture office.
A resident from Ward 7 points out that it is also an approach road for the VMC trucks carrying garbage that head towards garbage treatment plant in Sayyad Nagar.
The Valpoi municipal council (VMC) will have to cover these drains along the narrow roads before monsoon.
We are hearing from the VMC official that the contract has been awarded but there is no sign of drains being covered in Valpoi, another resident of Valpoi said.
When contacted, VMC councilors said that the repair work will begin soon as the tender had been floated.
Residents have urged VMC to carry out the repair of roads to prevent them from getting worse during the monsoon.
