The high-mast lights installed in the beach car parking area as well as a few streetlights on the Benaulim beach road remain switched on for long hours even during the daytime, this is a criminal waste of electricity.
Why doesn’t the Electricity Department have sensor-based light fixtures which automatically switch on and off depending on ambient light conditions. Streetlights draw high power from the grid as they are essentially cluster LED units with multiple modules.
With many coastal villages in Goa facing prolonged power cuts due to inadequate supply, it is more than high time such wastage is checked.
