AGONDA: The special gram sabha of Cotigao which was presided over by Sarpanch Anandu Desai witnessed large attendance on Sunday with six out of the seven panch members attended the meeting.
Deputy Collector Ramesh Gaonkar, Deputy Sarpanch Punam Gaonkar, Panchayat Secretary Sushant Naik Gaonkar, Wildlife Conservation Officer Korgaonkar, Forest Officer Vinod Desai, Panchas Jayesh Gaonkar, Krishna Velip and Vrunda Velip were present on the occasion.
Goa Legislative Assembly Speaker Ramesh Tawadkar was also present for the meeting.
Villagers by raising their hands approved the proposals of granting sanads to 335 people. Tawadkar guided the attendees about the Forest Rights Act and informed them that the local committee will first scrutinise the claims and later the report will be sent to the Sub-Divisional Committee followed by District Committee.
“All the claims will be cleared within the next four years. Plan to start a milk centre at Mane is underway. This will provide employment for the youth. Tribals will be given all the rights pertaining to forest income under the Act,” said Tawadkar.
