Roads in Goa were filled with patch works that are full of potholes few days back. Union Home Minister visited Goa recently and also addressed the party workers, so called karyakartas, and expected a clear majority in the forthcoming Assembly elections.
Just a few months to go for the elections, the Chief Minister of Goa also announced potholed free roads by November end. The potholes are now filled with patchwork and some roads with hot-mix just before his visit to Goa. He also inaugurated a university with forensic and investigation courses. The visit was also a pre-election address to the State.
Roads in Goa are in pathetic condition for last so many years and many have fallen prey to this by accidents and getting hurt. Many have suffered backache and spondylitis problems.
The roads are main source to reach any destination and same has not been in good shape. Right from Pernem to Canacona, the roads are not fit for travelling or transportation. One has to be careful every minute while driving as you are not aware where the potholes will be.
During monsoon, it was worst to judge the depth of potholes after they were filled with rain water. It’s really a need of the hour to get best roads for which we pay road tax.
One wonders where this tax is utilised. For the vehicle riders, there is fine for violating traffic rules but why there is no punishment for those who do not give good service to the people?
The question remains unanswered as why there is no fine or tax for not providing good roads to the citizens. The right to punish citizens is only for those in the government and not vice versa.
The citizen should be given right to ask and question the department for not providing good services. The only way to get rid of all this is to implement President’s Rule in State, which will help to get things in order.
