Stray cattle has once again come to haunt residents at Siolim. Bovines occupy the roads at nights as a result of which many motorists suffer injuries, vehicles are damaged and on three occasions there were even deaths on the roads after motorists have banged into the animals squatting on the pitch dark roads at nights. In the morning, commuters have a hard time avoiding colliding against the cattle and cow dung gets splashed on motorists passing by.
This year most of the fields in the village have been damaged by rains and whatever that is remaining is being feasted upon stray animals in the area with the authorities least bothered about the situation.

There are over 800 animals that loiter the streets during the day and night and despite the Village Panchayats of Siolim-Sodiem and Marna passing several resolutions to impound stray cattle, they are yet to be implemented in letter and spirit. The Siolim-Sodiem panchayat keeps passing resolutions making it mandatory for builders and developers to maintain CSR funds for fencing fields and promoting agriculture in the village but not a pie seems to be spent to do the needful.
If the panchayat cannot reach out to the villagers, commuters and farmers in distress then they should refrain from passing resolutions and stop conducting time wasting gram sabhas.
