Students face hardships due to lack of buses, cabs to commute to Goa University

Each working day, more than 1,000 students travel to Goa University to perceive their education. Many others choose to accommodate themselves in hostel. The stretch from Goa Medical College and Hospital (GMC), Bambolim, to university is a different task to travel due to lack of buses, cabs etc.

Yes, there are pilot facilities available, but it’s not a preferable and affordable choice. Students tend to wait for 30-40 minutes for a bus to travel the scratch of 3km. The time frame from 8.30 to 10’Oclock and noon from 1’Oclock onwards, there’s always a rush to board a bus. The time frame commencing from 1’Oclock, students tend to wait for buses one or two hours in order to travel to GMC as the bus is always full by the time it reaches to library and administrative block leaving behind students.

Travelling from local buses to the university is a serious issue. Due to delay in the local buses, students tend to miss their connecting buses heading to native places.

The point is what is the solution to this? The possible solution could be starting a bus service for students at pick timings. The university bus could be assigned the work which is used to commute hostel students to various schools of university.

Such issue need to be taken into consideration and resolve it foremost.
