Traffic congestion at Mardol

As a matter of fact, the road at Mardol in Ponda Taluka is too narrow. Especially, at the main bus-stop at this jurisdiction, the situation turns to be a perfect death-trap, more so during the peak hours.

Very often people visiting the nearby stalls/shops halt and even park their vehicles along the road thereby hindering the smooth movement of vehicular traffic. Whenever cars and buses proceed in the opposite directions, the pedestrians do not get any space to walk along their way and their precious lives remain at a great risk and danger.

Over the years many mishaps have taken place at this sensitive location.

Still, a traffic cop has not been deputed here to control the ever-increasing traffic, over the existing narrow road. Even recently, a collision took place between a car and a company bus thereby leading to blockade of vehicular traffic for almost an hour.

In order to ease the existing dangerous situation and assuring normalcy on a permanent basis, the concerned authorities need to levy a serious view to this difficulty and introduce practical positive steps to assure smooth movement of vehicular traffic at this critical spot.

Traffic signboards indicating “No Parking” should be installed on priority basis. Deputing a permanent traffic cop would go a long way in assuring relief to one and all. No doubt, public at large must be assured safety at all costs. Let us hope that prompt favourable action would follow before the existing situation degrades further.
