This has reference to the traffic police in Margao who promptly post themselves on the road leading to Housing Board outside Suyash Gardens. While this may be to penalize traffic offenders, I’m sorry to inform the authorities that it is becoming a source of inconvenience and danger to people living in Suyash Gardens as bikers without helmets choose to ply through the society and exit at the other gate as the cops are all huddled up in one place and refuse to stand at both places even after being verbally informed about it.
Secondly, at this very same place there seems to be only the helmet rule in the minds of the cops with drivers boldly talking on their cell phones and vehicles boldly driving/riding on the wrong side of the road to refill petrol tanks.
Just two questions: 1. Is the helmet rule the only rule? And 2. Where are the traffic cops on the Goan roads in the wee hours of the morning, when you have drunken motorists plying at will without any fear of being booked, thus leading to fatal accidents? They are seen all over in other states, so why not in Goa?
